ABN and TFN registrations

Your fund must apply for an Australian business number (ABN) and a tax file number (TFN). If you don’t do this:

  • your fund won’t be able to receive rollovers or contributions
  • your fund won’t be registered as an ATO-regulated SMSF
  • your fund won’t be entitled to tax concessions, and
  • employers won’t be able to claim deductions for contributions they make to the fund.
