Cash in

This spreadsheet is a ‘weekly cash flow forecast’ and has been labelled this at the top of the spreadsheet.

You can use different names to identify the type of cash flow report or information you are putting together. A forecast is used for your current figures or for figures over this coming month or year. A review is for looking backwards in time such as for last month or last year’s figures. A plan is for planning. That is where you test different scenarios in the spreadsheet to see how they work out.

This spreadsheet is recording weekly figures but you can change this to yearly, quarterly, monthly, or put your own timeframe in if you are recording seasonal figures.

The Opening balance or Cash on hand is whatever you have currently in your business bank account.

Using the information from your business records and cash flow cycle you complete the Cash in and Cash out sections.

The Cash in section allows you to split your income into different categories. You can give each category its own description. You add as many different categories to this section as you want. This spreadsheet is showing just one category – Income.

Gather your Cash In figures from your cash receipts records.
