Case study: JP Contracting using the fuel tax credit calculator

Jacob’s small business, JP Contracting, provides services to clients using both heavy and light vehicles.

Jacob has worked out he can claim fuel tax credits for:

  • 15,000 litres of petrol used in light vehicles off public roads
  • 22,000 litres of diesel used in heavy vehicle for travelling on public roads.

He can’t claim for petrol used in light vehicles for travelling on public roads.

Jacob has also checked whether any eligibility criteria apply to his fuel and activities, and whether he can use simplified methods to calculate his claim. In this case, the simplified methods don’t apply.

Watch the video to see how Jacob uses the ATO Fuel tax credit calculator to calculate his fuel tax credits claim.
