To access ATO online services for individuals, as a sole trader, you need to:
- create a myGov account with your email address and mobile phone number
- then link your myGov account with the ATO service using
- your tax file number (TFN) and
- information from your notice of assessment, PAYG payment summary or income statement, super account statement, Centrelink payment summary or bank account details.
You can visit ato.gov.au for supporting resources and videos that will help you set up and link your myGov account with the ATO.
You can also access Online services for individuals by using myID.
Your myID is an app you download to your smart device that proves who you are when signing in to myGov.
myID makes signing in to your myGov account:
- flexible – you can still use your current myGov sign-in option or myID to sign in, helping you avoid losing access to your account when using other sign in options
- secure – your personal information is encrypted and verified against existing government records, making it the most secure way to sign in to myGov.
You can connect your myID to your myGov account when you're signed in to myGov.
Once connected, you can start using your myID with your myGov account. Visit ato.gov.au to find out more about using myID with myGov.
