Contacting the ATO for support

The ATO recognises the challenges that businesses face, particularly small businesses.

The ATO website www.ato.gov.au contains a range of information and tools to help you set up, operate, and manage your business. This includes a live chat service (10am – 6pm AEST, Monday – Friday).

The ATO also have trained staff who can provide unbiased and accurate information to help you get your GST right and to protect you from those seeking to take advantage of you. If you’re unable to find what you need on the website, you can call the ‘Business tax’ line on 13 28 66 (8am – 6pm AEST, Monday - Friday).

If you require additional information on new or existing debts, payment plans, overdue lodgments and penalties and interest, you can call the ATO ‘Lodge and pay’ line on 13 11 42.

Remember: If you having difficulty meeting your GST or other tax obligations, contact the ATO. They are there to support you.
